Sorry, this feels like an abuse of my own blog, but here’s yet another design idea for the web site, following on from my previous two posts. I think I like this one even better, simple but effective, yet with the occasional bit of sparkle to set the web site apart from the crowd.
It’s a pretty standard layout, and includes a rather commercial looking ‘special offer’ thingum overlapping the top border. The extra-special bit is the speech bubble that you see in the preview – that’s like a funkified tooltip, giving you more information about the link you’re hovering over. The trick will be making that as useful and unobtrusive as possible while still looking special. We don’t want it getting in the way or annoying people!
