I’ve just been checking out the small print on my food. No, I’m not going on a diet, I’m just curious to find out exactly what I’m eating. So after lunch today I got out all the footstuffs I’d eaten that day and made a spreadsheet of all the numbers. Although it’s not exactly accurate, in that I haven’t counted cups of tea or managed to calculate how much jam or butter I put on my sandwiches, I’ve got a rough idea of what of each component I’ve been eating. Even factoring in what I might consider having for dinner tonight, I think I’m a little on the low side of everything. I might manage to consume 1500 kcal today (much less than the recommended 2000-2500), and I think I’ll struggle to get more than 50% of the recommended daily amount of fat. Protein might be on track, and possibly carbohydrates, and I expect the figure I got for sugar (currently just over 40% of what I should have eaten) will be helped by the sugar in my cups of tea. The trouble is, it’s not always particularly easy to count up what’s in all the fruit and veg I eat. At least I’m in no danger of putting on weight…

In other news, I’m planning on doing lots of tidying today. I’ve already this morning tidied the lounge and dining room (mowed the lawn yesterday), and a little later I shall be starting on the kitchen, and will also give my Mini a good clean so it’s ready for the Mini Run tomorrow (the club is off to Great Yarmouth).

Speaking of Neddy, I got a package through the post today. I had seen a three-dial cluster for sale on eBay and bought it, but when it came I was a little disappointed to find that it wasn’t quite what I was expecting. The main reason I bought it was because it had the rev counter, which I’m currently missing. Unfortunately, the rev counter was missing several bits, including a plastic surround and the piece of glass across the front. So that makes that purchase pretty much useless. Grrr. I’ll take it along to the Great Yarmouth run tomorrow, just in case anyone wants it, but sadly it’s a bit of a let-down for me. I shall just have to keep looking, and if all else fails, find something else to fill the space instead of a rev counter. If anyone’s got any suggestions of what else I could put there, please do let me know! Nothing wrong with being creative and ‘different’ – that’s generally the theme of the car!

You really have too much time on your hands. You should be watching the World Cup!

Btw, how is the dining room lawn? Or was that a non sequitur?

Speak to you soon. čÖé
