My big road trip

*yawn* – Still tired after three days of serious driving. Sunday afternoon I drove from Colchester to Gloucester to see Ellie, then Monday morning drove down to Torquay to see my family (got caught up in a huge traffic jam, not nice), then drove back to Colchester on Tuesday. So that’s a round trip of about 600 miles!! The car managed it very well, didn’t complain at all, and my Dad approved of the car too, which was an added bonus!

It was so nice to see Ellie again! She’s so wonderful. And her mum has a lovely house. They’ve got a parrot called Charlie, who apparently doesn’t like men coming into the house, but seemed perfectly happy with me around – I felt very honoured not to be shouted at! They’ve also got a cute little hamster called Peter, and a goldfish. Ellie and I stayed up a lot later than I intended, watching Pirates Of The Caribbean. Great film, fantastic special effects, and some brilliant lines! Captain Jack Sparrow kinda stole the show, but did it so brilliantly that I don’t think many people would mind!!

Was nice to be back home in Torquay too, if only briefly. Nice to see some hills – been missing those! Our garden has a nice pond in it too, which looks very nice. Actually the whole garden looks good now, very settled in, very established. My littlest brother is in France at the moment on a school trip, so I didn’t get to see him, but everyone else was there, so that was nice. It was also nice for them to meet Ellie (she and her mum are on holiday in Torquay at the mo). It wasn’t a scary “meet the parents” moment, thankfully, just a case of us seeing each other and our parents happened to be there too. And Ellie will be coming back to Colchester on Saturday to visit – I can’t wait!!!!

  1. Just in case any one’s interested; Peter is not a hamster he’s a guinea pig! Poor Matthew, you can tell he didnt have pets when he was growing up can’t you! X

  2. Nice to see you’ve been shown the error of your ways and forced to watch Pirates of the Caribbean!
