Yes, on Saturday I spent an hour and a half making my bed. I know what you’re thinking – surely it doesn’t take that long to make a bed? Well, normally it wouldn’t, but this time I was actually making the bed, as in screwing it together and building it! I bought it from a charity shop for 50 quid (inc matress), and it’s actually very nice! Much more comfortable than the floor. And it was very satisfying to know that I built it, made me feel very manly! I even had to straighten a bent screw, which had apparently been bent by whoever had taken the bed apart, so I had to bash it a few times with a hammer in the garage to make it work! I also had to improvise slightly with the tools – I needed an Alan key to tighten the big bolts, but in absense of that I resorted to a pair of pliers! Probably scratched the metal a bit, and might have scratched the wood slightly, but I was more concerned about getting the bed together and sturdy. After all, I do own the bed now!!
We also have a nice sofa now, and a bookcase, and a small selection of LPs, all from charity shops. I like charity shops! Our internet connection still hasn’t been set up though, hopefully that’ll be connected on the 28th. We also need to finish sorting out the utilities bills and stuff, so I’ve got a load of ‘moving house’ letters to write today.
Esther came back yesterday, which was nice. She hasn’t really been around much since we moved in, so it was nice to see her! We spent last night playing University of Essex Monopoly. Anne-Marie dominated the game from the outset, and I was first to go bankrupt (never been bankrupted before, it was quite interesting!!).
I’ve also had several requests for some new photos on my photolounge – I’ll try and get some up when I get internet back. I’ve got some of my new car and my new house, and also some from Richard’s Superhero birthday party from a few weeks ago. So do check back there in about a week’s time, and hopefully there will be some new photos there!
